Although as required by law Scripto electronic are child resistant, for an adult they are fairly simple to use. All that is necessary is a push down on the ignitor at a 45 degree angle which presses down on 2 points. Since the effort needed is only 50% on each point, lighting a cigar or cigarette does not require too much force as long as the lighter ignitor is being pressed at a 45 degree angle.
